River rafting in Rishikesh season is best in the months of September to November and March to May. Rafting during the monsoon season is not advisable since the water flow and water current is very high during the period and could be dangerous for rafters. Brahmapuri, Shivpuri, Byasi, and Kaudilya are the main destinations were river rafting expeditions occur in Rishikesh.
The rafting at Brahmapuri covers a distance of 12 kilometers and is best suited for beginners since the rapids in this section are of grade one which is the basic class of rapids as prescribed by the international grading system for rapids. The rafting from Shivpuri to Rishikesh covers sixteen kilometers and provides with maximum fun for a short run. Roller coaster, golf course and other top rapids are available in this stretch. Byasi and Kaudilya offer higher grade rafting experiences. Kaudilya is best suited for the most experienced and the true adventurer and has the grade 4+ rapid the wall which falls between Kaudilya and Marine drive and covers a stretch of 34 kilometers.
